You heard right that NY seldom tests Const Law on Essays. Looking at every essay from 1994 to date, you would see a bit of speech, not much more. It seems unlikely that you should spend anytime on NY Const distinctions, except in Crim Pro, which they do test a lot. But the MBE subjects not only comprise 200 Q's for 40% of total, but K, T, CR, & Prop are tested always, or almost so, on essays. So most of points on exam are on these.
Then Wills TRusts, Domestic, Corps & Partnerships, and PARTS of NY CPLR are tested always. Through in a drop of Pr Resp, Conflicts, and The MPT, and you have far and away most of the covered subjects.
Suggest: Study what they test most before you worry about what seldom comes up.

Hope this helps.
