How often each subject is tested on the California bar essays — use it to weight your study time. Tiers reflect the long-run testing pattern (recency-weighted). Format: California gives 5 essays + 1 Performance Test per administration (since July 2017). Professional Responsibility is the most-tested subject and frequently appears as a crossover inside another subject's question — always be ready to spot it.

How to read this: tiers are a study-weighting guide based on the long-run pattern, not a guarantee for any single exam — the bar can test anything on the list. Always confirm against the detailed essay-history matrix. Note: the State Bar groups Agency, Partnership, and Corporations together as "Business Associations."
HOW TO USE THE FREQUENCY DATA
1. Front-load the top tiers. Professional Responsibility, Community Property, Evidence, Con Law, and Civil Procedure together account for a large share of essay points — master their one-sheets cold.
2. Drill crossovers. PR and Remedies usually appear inside another subject's question. Practice spotting a hidden PR or Remedies issue in every essay.
3. Don't abandon the lower tiers. A "lower frequency" subject still appears regularly enough that skipping it is risky — learn the high-yield elements from its one-sheet even if you spend less time there.
